A couple of weeks ago Mr S and I had the pleasure of attending a good friends wedding in Ischia, a lovely mountainous island, just off the coast of Naples in Italy.
We arrived in Naples and then caught a ferry over to the Island, it took about ninety minutes but it was lovely sitting up on the top deck, soaking up the sunshine and meeting up with other wedding guests. We arrived at the picturesque port just as the sun went down.
Our hotel was ‘The Griffo’, a sweet little hotel with a lovely pool area and helpful staff. The rooms are a little basic, but clean, modern and very reasonably priced. They also run a free shuttle to the port.
The island has a friendly, local atmosphere. The Taxi driver that took us to the pre-wedding dinner that night even said ‘pay on the way home’. You don’t get that in London!
The next day was the wedding. I had a total nightmare with my outfit. I tried on the dress I was going to wear the night before we left, and the dry cleaners had shrunk it (definitely nothing to do with my lack of gym action lately ;)) so I packed a backup dress that I really didn’t want to wear and hoped I would find one at the airport. I couldn’t believe I did, and managed to get a hair flower and wrap too, how lucky was I? You’ve got to love airport shopping.

It was the perfect setting for a wedding, so romantic. This was the amazing view from my seat for the ceremony.

The theme was white and yellow, I love these table decorations with local lemons and Agapanthus. Also thought I’d share a photo of the beautiful bride & groom :)

Then we danced and ate, I’ve never seen so much food or different varieties of cheese in one place!
We had a wonderful stay on Ischia and will definitely go back. Next time I’d like to visit the thermal park of Castiglione and spend a bit more time exploring the island.

I love your panoramic photo Kelly, that camera of yours is ace! The homes are all perfectly colour coordinated, one to visit it seems.
Aww you look very pretty too, red suits you.
Lovely venue, lovely wedding, lovely hotel. All lovely! x
I’m really loving my camera! Mr S bought me a wide angle lens for my birthday. I never thought I’d see the day I would have a grown up camera AND multiple lenses :)
It’s definitely worth a visit, I will go back x
oh oh oh that 500! that’s the cutest thing ever!
And lemons? That’s such a cute idea.
Lucky you having friends who get married in such nice places and invite you!
You look fab in that red dress. I’d be so gutted if a cleaner shrunk my dress. Our dry cleaner sent Richard’s Burberry shirt to Canada and offered him an m&S one as a replacement. He wasn’t very impressed.
I know, I really love that photo of the 500! The guy driving it was a huge, grumpy looking man, not what you would expect :)
I was pretty gutted, especially as it wasn’t even that clean when I got it back… I wonder how they sent Richard’s shirt to Canada by accident, not suprised he wasn’t happy with the M & S replacement! x
I have one question for you? Are you ever in the UK?? You seem to be always travelling and to gorgeous places.
I can’t tell you how amazing the Fiat Cinquecento (sorry, sometimes we have to give things the respect they deserve:) is against that setting. Just beautiful!! The colours. It cries out to be painted! Oh no, stop it Tina, you have to finish that Mosaic project!!!
Breathtaking place and photography and you look stunning in that red number. Boo to dry cleaners x
I’ve been pretty lucky this year, two weddings in gorgeous places that I had to go to :) I do love to travel and I’m making the most of this summer…
Perhaps you could slip a little Fiat Cinquecento in amongst your beautiful yellow flowers in your mosaic :) if you do want to paint it I can send you the high res image.
Thanks for the compliments on the dress; I still can’t believe how lucky I was to find it at the airport! x
