Christmas in the Sparkes household starts in early December, with the decorations put up on the first weekend. This year has been different, I got one of my trees up when the floor was finished on the 14th, a week before we travelled up north for Christmas and it didn’t seem worth doing the rest!
When it comes to decorating my tree I pick a colour scheme, but then anything goes, including faux flowers. I’ve even got a bunch of glass grapes on there and don’t like to see much tree when it’s finished! I’m thrilled with the silver peacock feathers I got from Liberty this year.
Mr S, buys me the Swarovski crystal tree decoration every year, he has done it since we met so I’m building up a collection, I look forward to having a whole tree full!
Christmas up north was the usual riot of colour and family fun. There were six children this year on Christmas morning. I was completely spoiled, Mr S bought me some wonderful presents, including this array of books to help with an online venture I have planned with a good friend for the new year (more on that soon!)
The best present of all, was getting to the end on my first trimester and seeing our little baby Sparkes wriggling around on the ultrasound.
So now I’m excitedly planning for bubba’s arrival in July and looking forward to shaking off the tiredness that has swamped me for the last few months, apparently the second trimester is easier…

Hi Sarah,
It’s too early to tell on this scan unfortunately, will know at the next one. ‘Permanent hungover feeling’ is the perfect way to describe it, even worse because you can’t tell anyone why! Someone actually said ‘heavy night?’ after the christmas party, where I obviously didn’t touch a drop, I wanted to say, yeah I stayed up past 9pm :)
