Two weeks ago I was in Amsterdam for Meet the Blogger 2012, and since then I’ve been trying to write a post about it whilst travelling in Italy, begging for votes for my headboard design and trying to squeeze in some time for the blogging your way course.
Yesterday I realised that I was pretty much regurgitating the same stuff my two friends and companions for the trip, Sam and Mary had already written about beautifully on their blogs. So rather than writing a full post, when I’m so keen to tell you all about the other fun stuff I’ve been up to since then, I decided to do an overview post.
Meet the blogger was held at the impressive Conservatorium Hotel. I’m not sure it was the best venue for a conference, but would definitely stay there in the future. Sam wrote the following post about the hotel, her fabulous photos really capture the mood of the place.
The event itself was only half a day, which was a shame, but they packed lots in. The highlight for me was the keynote speaker Frida Ramstedt of Trendenser. I’m completely in awe of, and inspired by Frida, she is living proof of what can be done if you put your mind to it. This quote, taken from one of her slides is the main thing I took away with me.

Frida’s new Trendenser iPad magazine launched during the presentation and she gave a us a sneak preview. I was really impressed and have subscribed. I will post a review next week.

The rest of the weekend was spent exploring the city, mostly by Segway! Mr S has been trying to get me on a Segway for years, but it took the peer pressure of the group to finally get me to try it. Here’s a little video that Mr S made, for you to laugh at :) Hope you had a great weekend everyone!

I’m absolutely killing myself with laughter Kelly, you vid has brightened up my Monday morning! Didn’t we have a laugh on those segways? I still crack up thinking about you passing the doorway every 2 minutes in a cartoon like manner. I’d forgotten also how slow and painful we were when we did the practice session, but your film has captured this and your session perfectly. I can’t wait to do it again some time.
Thanks for my blog mention too love xx
You are welcome love! It was such a laugh! I can’t believe it took me so long to go on one. You can see that I’m trying really hard not to burst out laughing at the end of the practice test. Can’t believe Mr S managed to catch the moment at the end when I was so busy taking photos that I mounted the curb!
Happy times, was a great weekend :)
xx
That video is brilliant and tells me everything I need to know! Love the music too:)
When in the South of France 10 days ago I nearly stopped the police in Nice on Segways and asked whether I could have a go. I had no clue one could rent them… Right, am off to Amsterdam in the autumn. I’m hooked.
Great roundup. xx
I love the fact that you were going to ask the police to have a go! You’re far braver than me :)
You should definately look out for tours when you are visiting a city. It will be the first thing I do now, a great, fun way to see the sights and orientate yourself.
If you visit Amsterdam, look up http://www.bestdamsegwaytours.com/pages/tours. It was really resonable and the guide was great. xx
great video, that music choice really describes it all. I wouldn’t mind one of those to hurry me along the school run. :)
he he, thanks, I would love one too, such a shame they are not permitted in England! Thanks for popping over and saying hello :) x
